Visit Mont Cascades – a cool escape just outside of Ottawa
 
Beat the heat and humidity of Ottawa summers by taking a quick 20 minute drive across the Ontario - Quebec border to visit Mont Cascades; a mountain side water park perfect for all ages. The timing couldn’t be better to enjoy this quick getaway, 2010 is Mont Cascades 20th anniversary and they are offering $10 admission for the rest of the summer! Considering all of the water parks and even all attractions in and around Ottawa and Gatineau, Mont Cascades is great value and great fun! Children under 2 are free and there is a LOT to do for all ages. There are 5 mini slides for little ones, a wadding pool spouting ‘cascades’ of refreshing spray, umbrellas of water to duck in and out of throughout the park and an incredible ‘splash forest’ with even more slides and cascades all grouped together for a sort of watery fun house! For the more adventurous rider Tornado Alley can take up to four people and whips you up and back across a huge funnel of water where you are certain your raft will flip itself over at each peak before shooting you down a dark tunnel with twists and turns and finally out the other end! Brave souls can also attempt the Vortex where you must ride alone as it shoots you down an incredibly quick tunnel slide and dumps you into a massive bowl that you fly around and around with nothing around you but water before being dropped down through the center into a pool surrounded by the falling water! For the competitive rider the ProRacer has you grab a foam crazy carpet, line up and race your buddies down the long mountain-side slides as fast as you can to see who wins! In addition to the rides (which there are many more of) there are tons of picnic tables and you are welcome to bring in your own snacks and drinks (no glass, though) which is a great way to save a few extra dollars if you are keeping to a budget, but of course there are lots of food, snack and drink options available onsite.
Mont Cascades is a great way to spend a day with a group of friends, with the family or even as a thrill seeking couple and it is so close to Ottawa it makes a great quick getaway or fantastic addition to a summer vacation or holiday stay.
